Hi.......
First, let me thank all involved in allowing me to become a member.
Let me introduce myself -
My name is Vic and I live in Scarborough on the NorthEast Coast
of the county of Yorkshire.
All my working life I have been involved with communications in
one branch or another. My amateur call is G3GKI 1952- and VS6EY
from 1962 to 1989 when I retired from Hong Kong.
During a search on the internet for information on the WJ-8712, I
became aware of your group. My present receivers don't come
up to the standard which maybe this group is interested in but
I desire to buy a WJ-8712 if a good one comes on the market.
I have the IC-775DSP and IC-756PRO-II plus a couple of older
receivers - HRO-500 and RA1217 - boat anchors but works OK.
For the past three years my main interest has been in weak signals
after reading a brief article QRSS/QRPP beacons in our RSGB
monthly magazine. Wishing to know just how HOT my reception
capabilites was, I joined this group and the interest grew from
day one. Stations from across the world are participating -
Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, USA and of course from around
Europe. Milliwatts and even microwatts power levels being used
and a waterfall display is used to see these signals well below
the noise floor. We have our own reflector where we report our
activities and reports on any captures made.
As I mentioned, my desire is to be a proud owner of a WJ-8712
which could enhance my reception qualities - I hope....
Regards to all.
