Hi again,

I just realized I missed the rack slide question. You should stay away from any slides called computer slide or server slide, as they are for different rack types and have no chassis attachment points. Look for a General devices slide about as long as your rack is deep. You may have to drill holes to match up with the 8618's mounting holes on the side panels. This brand was, as I recall, the factory-provided option for rack mounting. These slides are really simple, but be careful you get them on the correct sides, as backward (and upside-down) slides work rather poorly. These slides have latches also, which prevents the receiver flying out of the rack, tearing all the cables out, and landing on your feet.

Good luck with this...I have used these both professionally and in my home shack and have never had one fail.

My name is Steve Pappin, the new owner of a WJ-8618B. I have a few questions for the group regarding accessories. The first item that I need to address is a proper high quality audio system. An amplified speaker will be mounted in the 19" rack. The S-9903E would be ideal if I could locate one. No luck yet. I could also adapt something else. Any thoughts on what is suitable? Items tried and work well? The receiver deserves the best audio possible.

Securing the radio in a 19" rack requires additional support. The manual indicates optional brackets to be used in concert with the front panel bolts. Any suggestions?

I will be spending most of my time hunting satellites in the MIL AIR UHF bands. The receiver seems to work very well in this band.

  Regards,
  Steve
