[Premium-Rx] WJ 8711 - HF1000 failure

To you WJ Guru's....
 
My WJ 8711 failed recently during a power 'brown out'. On re-powering, it  
failed several steps on the BITE.
Imagine how my heart sank.
Anyway, while going through the front-panel controls with tears in my eyes  
(;-), I just happened to find the system reset sequence. I carried this  
through - and all the faults now seem to have cleared.
My first question - have the faults really cleared? Or have I reset the  
defaults to mask the faults? Or were the faults just memory corruptions? My  
manual doesn't explain any of this.
 
A second question: My WJ has 8711 on the front - but HF1000 on the  rear. The 
set has a known and tracable history, and has not been messed around  with in 
its life. Is there a difference between the 8711 and HF1000? If yes -  why 
has mine got both ID's?
