Scott:

This doesn't meet your specifics, but what I have done (with great success) is visit the thrift shops (Salvation Army, Assoc of Blind, etc.) and rummage through their used stereo gear. Even the junk stereo stuff works and sounds great with most HF gear. Occasionally I have found really good stuff (JBL speakers, Marantz cassette deck, etc.), and most of it sells for pennies on the dollar. What's really nice about the stereo stuff, is you actually have two channels you can pipe your preemie receivers into, and for HF, even junk speakers sound pretty good.

Happy shopping and good luck.

regards,

Dan

Subject: [Premium-Rx] Simple clean audio amp

I've finally reached the point of frustration with a couple of radios and would like to add a simple, clean outboard amp to the back of them, something on the order of 2-5 watts into 8 ohms, very good THD specs, at 12 vdc.

Can anyone suggest any source of reasonably priced built or kit amps fit for this purpose?

  Thanks, Scott
