Cecil and the rest of the premium RX drivers,
 
I am pleased to find there are others on this list interested in VLF.
 
Does anyone know what it takes to get a Racal RA6790/GM to actually tune  
down to VLF.
 
 I found and copied a set of the VLF EPROM's so the radio now tunes  down to 
0Hz but, unfortunately, it is deaf below about 400 kHz. Obviously, the  VLF 
version of this excellent radio had a different mixer, but is there anything  
else different in the VLF version ?

This is  a timely and interesting discussion for me, but not wanting to 
exceed the  groups bandpass on subject matter, I pose the  
question...(non-rhetorical)

I'm currently working to press a  W&G SPM-15 into LF/VLF service.  It 
certainly cost as much as  many of the Premium receivers we use and may turn 
out to perform better  down there, with some adaptation, than many of the 
Premiums.

Would  the discussion here of ideas to make these into a usable NDB DXing  
receivers be off topic? (I realize it's not on the list.....might talk  about 
that too!)
