[Premium-Rx] RX340 questions

Having just received my "new" used RX340 (thanks, Walt S!) I have a couple of questions for the group:

1. Has anything ever been done with the two options? Ten-Tec hasn't, but has anyone else hacked anything with them?

2. It appears that there is an IR port on the front panel (above the Manual Gain knob). Is it functional? Does anyone know how to use it?
