Hello Gordon,

To my knowledge the question if your 8712 supports the 50+ IF bandwidths
or just 5, is given by the type of IC's (U12 & U56) installed.
The WJ-8712 should be turned into a HF-1000 like receiver with 58 IF
bandwidth by simply replacing these two EPROM's:
Ref.- # U12 & #U56.
In my 8712-1 they are labelled the following way: (8712 A2 U12 1.4.4) or
(871X A2 U56 1.2.0)
Likewise the HF-1000 EPROM's are labelled similar,- as (HF1000 A2 U12,
04.01.03) etc.
The 8712-1has 5 IF bandwidths (0.3, 1.0, 3.2, 6.0, 16.0kHz), the HF-1000
has 58 of them (0.056 - 8.000kHz).

Kind regards.
