Hi Nigel,
No surefire trick on this one...alas
I'd start with cleaning contacts & connectors for demodulator boards A11,A12; audio board A13 and gain control board A14
Every time my Quad 8 stutters, I clean & clean & clean.
Worked every time until now !
Hope you get results
Peter

Hi All
I've just bought what looks to be a fairly early WJ8888, serial number 109, and it seems to have a switching fault around the demod selection area.
I've got the manual but thought I would ask first just in case someone can point an immediate finger.
It receives fine on AM and FM but has a problem on CW and sideband.
It seemed at first it was just the audio switching as it went silent switching to USB or LSB.
However it's not quite that simple and, testing it on a reasonable strength AM signal, full symptoms are....
AM...........Receiving OK, good RF signal level shown on meter.
FM...........Obviously not sounding right but RF signal level as before
ISB...........Loses audio, or at least extremely low level, but RF signal level as before.
CW, LSB, USB....Loses audio, or at least extremely low level, indicated RF signal level drops to zero.
If it wasn't for the indicated loss of RF, I'm assuming that's just indicated and not real, I would have just looked at the audio switching out of the demodulators.
Any ideas anyone??
regards
Nigel
