I did some more checking around on the web and found what looks to be the
best inverter to use for powering a premium receiver or other sensitive
electronic equipment from a storage battery. Analytic Systems make a 300 watt and 600
watt pure sine wave inverter specifically for critical electronic applications
off grid. It looks like the 300 watt IPS300 would be sufficient to power any
normal table-top premium receiver like the WJ, Harris, Racal and others. The
IPS300 has extensive filtering on both the input and output end for ultra-quiet
low EMI operation and is specified for use in mobile radio and TV vans and
other critical off-line applications. The AC neutral and ground are tied to the
case with a grounding stud so the inverter can be grounded to a vehicle
chassis or even a ground rod at a fixed installation for super RFI reduction if
needed. All the specifications are superb so if you want to take your Racal or WJ
with you on a DXpedition away from power lines this one should do the job.
Here is a link or address to product description. The IPS300 retails for about
$700 and AtlantaSolar is a distributor. 73 Todd WD4NGG
