Hi Eric

You could try a your 12 volt battery and 12/240 Volts inverter inside a 
home made shielded box with a screened room filter (suggest one of the 
better ones designed for tempest work and with low leakage to earth and 
with more L than C to reduce precious current consumption).  Another 
possibility is to use the shielded battery box with inverter inside (needs 
waveguide beyond cut-off orifices to allow hot air from inverter to escape 
and shielded cable/connectors as short as you can possibly make them 
(including the 12V ones internally)

I have such filters/inverters/leisure 12V:85AH batteries I will give this a 
try sometime and will report back.
