Fellow Members:
It is not uncommon for Jan and I to receive e-mail from non-members
requesting information or assistance related to our List, or to our area of
interest, premium receivers.
Recently, I received an e-mail from John Nelson, technical and reviews
editor of the World Radio & TV Handbook, asking for assistance. John is
presently writing a feature piece for WRTH's 60th anniversary edition about
the advancement of receiver technology during that period of
time. Naturally, in searching the Internet for information, he came across
the Premium-Rx List which is what motivated him to contact us.
In gathering information, John visited BBC Monitoring at Caversham, where
he operated some of their equipment. This reminded him of his youth, and
the 'feel' of the older receivers. Based on this, he would like to
exchange some mail with anyone that can direct him toward the purchase
of: "...an RA17 as a classic; an RA1772 or 78 on performance grounds; and
probably a 179x or 679x..."
If you can help this individual, would you please drop him an off-line
e-mail at: john at crew-green.com
In my first paragraph I stated; "It is not uncommon for Jan and I to
receive e-mail from non-members requesting information or
assistance...". In reality it is the quality of posts and the range of
topics that makes this a respected resource for information. Our thanks to
every member for making this possible.
Greg and Jan
