Hi Eugene
Thanks for the pix/words describing the beast. It sure did raise a lot of
interest! The "video" outputs are not video in the now accepted sense (ie
video rastered into pictures as TV) I recall that the Audio band went up to
circa 20 kHz and everything baseband higher than that was "video". The
"video" output went either to selective AM (or FM/PM) receivers that
allowed the FDM (Frequency Division Multiplexing) to be resolved (WJ made a
number of receivers for this purpose) or in the case of EMC/Tempest
Recievers the video output is connected to an oscilloscope for signal
analysis (as it is for Electronic Warfare/Counter-measures) or automated
signal recognition equipment.
WJ produced a number of Tech Notes describing the techniques which are
either on the Premium Rx website or at
http://www.wj.com/technotes/index.asp. This is a very interesting read if
you have not viewed these before. Taught me a lot these did about the
history of the development of the radios and what they were used for - a
bit of imagination helps a lot.
Best regards
John G8 BSD
