Nice work, it brings back some memories...
In the mid-80's, I purchased one of these from a Norwegian DX-er, actually
it was the 602 version with decadic switches. I remember it being rather
insensitive below 1 MHz. Also the motorised preselector gear didn't work.
And every time I switched the preselector on, the most agonising noise
came from the motor. As time went, the VFO seemed to drive off on its own,
in the end I was no longer able to tune the radio. At the end I sold it to
someone who said he might repair it, probably for far less than it was
worth. That said - it was no DX machine with its decadic switch tuning.
I have heard that the development costs for the HRO-600 was what finally
toppled National Radio Co. True or false?
