Sure is .. fold down the front panel, the internal speaker leads are clip like " push on Lugs " pull one or both off . you will see how easy it is when you fold this panel down .. mac/mc.

  Subject: [Premium-Rx] RF590 AM filter fixed/SPKR Question

Happy 4th to the group and a belated thanks to everyone that responded with suggestions about my defunct AM filter in the RF590.

I finally had the time and courage to open it up today (it is the season for fireworks) and found that there was a small (< 1cm long) cut off piece of what looked like component lead bridging the gap between two adjacent solder pads near the filter.

It had a solid physical and fair electrical contact at one pad being embedded (but not melted into) the pad, and was laying on the other making and breaking contact when the board was flexed near the filter.

How it got there I can't imagine, you'd think it couldn't pass QA that way, but the one end was pretty well embedded in the solder at the pad. Maybe someone had the board out and laid it down on a dirty work surface at some point.

In any event, BITE PASSED and life is good.

On a related note, I hooked up an external speaker to J7 and to my surprise found that activating the speaker off switch disables the in-panel speaker and the external speaker - does anyone know if is there a way to disable the in-panel speaker and leave the J7 output hot ?

  Thanks again. Scott
