Though I understand that this is a worldwide group, I'd like to focus
this message at the San Diego area members. It's only 'a bit'
off-topic, but I feel confident that all you radio-philes will
understand....

the Situation:

I am a former San Diegan, now living on the north shore of
Massachusetts. My wife is still in San Diego dealing with the odds and
ends of our life there. An upcoming project during my time in SD (long
deferred) was the gear in question. I'd like to find a home for it so
it doesn't end up in the dump. This is a 'you-haul, no-charge'
proposition....

the Gear:

A late 50s/early 60s German console setup, consisting of a multi-band
receiver, record-changer, and tape deck in what I would consider a nice
wood cabinet in sort of a early 'Danish modern' style. I would classify
the condition as 'unusually good', with original instruction manuals,
schematics, and maybe even a purchase receipt included. Trying to
recall the brand, pretty sure it's either Grundig or Telefunken.

Those of you who know this gear, will know that they usually have very
good audio qualities, fairly decent receiver sections, etc. Not
Premium-RX, but not bad at all.

the Condition:

Quite clean, appears to be a low-mileage unit. As far as I could tell,
it is 'unmolested' from original. However, the usual bits from gear of
this era should be expected, including replacement of rubber (drive
belts, etc.). Tubes, capacitors, etc may need some attention.
>From my fuzzy recollection of preliminary inspection a few years back,
receiver, audio, etc. worked ok, tape deck needed belts, cleaning, etc.
Cabinet was unusually clean with only a few minor dings.

the Deal:

This is a no-charge deal, you haul. Minimal harassment of the missus is
a must as she is up to her eyebrows in moving madness. For the right
person this could be a jewel, but if you're not in the area shipping
would be prohibitive (besides, 'no way' can I give my wife any more
headaches than she has already with our move; I'm sure that you married
guys will understand).

Excuse my 'bending' of the Premium-RX group rules; the thought of this
unit getting carted off to the dump gives me shivers.

Even if you're not the one, would appreciate any assistance in finding a
good home for this item in the San Diego, CA area.

Further info, etc., please contact me off-list.

Cheers,

Martin Colby
