[Premium-Rx] Nonsmoking Tantalums

I echo the general views regarding dodgy tantalums.  I once had a second-hand but unused Racal RA1771 that had been unpowered for about 8 years.  There were all sorts of problems caused by some dead tantalums.  The military get round this problem by making annual or semi-annual inspections by test engineers (the REME in UK) who power up every single item of electrical equipment.

I currently have a problem with the PSU of a near identical RA1772 and I bet it's another tantalum shorting one or more supply lines to deck.
