[Premium-Rx] Interesting New Article on Our Webpage

Hi gang ...

I've placed a new article on the Premium-Rx website - The Great Marconi 
Mishap & Some Little Known Receivers. It was written by one of our members 
(Michael O'Beirne - G8MOB) and published in a recent Radio Bygones.

It provides a clear tutorial style discussion of receiver characteristics 
that determine performance,  and doesn't assume the reader is an RF 
engineer. Worth reading for this alone.

But, the article also covers in some detail the attempt by Marconi's Chief 
Scientist - B.M. Sosin - to develop a way of characterising overall 
receiver performance with a single number - what he termed the Reception 
Failure Factor. The article recaps the application of this approach to then 
current Marconi radios, and to the products of key competitors, some of 
which were less than impressed with the comparison. All in all a 
fascinating look at a little known radio controversy.

The document is a PDF file - the quality isn't the best but it should be
