I have to say this is the coolest project I have seen in QEX. You did a
beautiful job!  I have only 1 comment. Why didn't you consider a clock
driver at the output of U2A pin 3 running at a higher voltage?  fc

 I believe that the main problem with the RA6830 synthesizer is that it does
not use enough bits for the D to A in the fractional N loop coupled with
very poor ground loops in the 60 Hz supply. 
 
The modern all digital fractional-N technique DOES NOT use D/A at all. 
See the patent US 4,609,881.
 
I tried this tecnology (for the LO in my transceiver) and was very satisfied

with a very simple design (here is my article from the QEX):
