That's why I still like to use my old Hammarlund SP-600.

I'm waiting for somebody to build an outboard DSP IF/Detector system with 
self contained D/A, high quality audio amp and speaker that will plug into a 
455 Khz IF output from any receiver using that final IF.  Allowing the 
addition of some of the new technology features to some of the old but 
dependable RF platforms.  Something similar to the old Kiwa Map type of form 
with greatly expanded capability.

I think it would sell....
