Hi Ed,

As long as we're dreaming, there are two key features I would like to see:

1) Greatly improved DSP noise reduction, perhaps with artificial
intelligence/voice recognition to separate noise from voice content even
with a threshold level signal. How about a noise-free "remodulation" feature
for received speech similar to today's remodulators for RTTY mark/space? It
would activate clean, synthesized speech after recognizing voice content
within the noise.

2) Automatic & complete phasing and/subtraction of adjacent channel signals
for split-frequency mediumwave use, specifically. This would eliminate
domestic station splatter that normally overlaps the intended foreign MW
target. This real time, computer-driven system would track minute phase and
level variations and adjust accordingly, something that cannot be done with
current manually-operated phasing units (Quantum Phaser, etc.), as good as
they are. If phasing  was complete and accurate it would remove the #1
obstacle to audio recovery & intelligibility of foreign MW stations (during
those special times when propagation permits TA/TP mediumwave DX to make it
across the big ponds).

  --Trunk Tracking capability
  --Digital Decoding for 9600 baud
  --S Meter in microvolts
  --Firmware upgradeable
  --Inverted Voice Descrambler
  --multiple roofing filters

  What more?  This is your chance to dream!  From a technical standpoint,
this is all possible in one box.  Pricepoint about $9K.  There is a niche
market for this, plus the government would certainly consider it.  Your
thoughts?
