Hi list,
I have a Siemens CHR-531, and while it is a very good looking and solid
receiver I don't find it optimal for my use - medium wave DX-ing. The
sensitivity for AM signals in the medium wave band is significantly lower
than the other sets you are mentioning, so it needs a good external preamp
to compete (in addition to the internal one). But even with a good preamp
the limited wider filters of the CHR-531 makes it difficult to compete with
e.g. a well equipped RA6790/GM.
I have put the technical data sheet from the German manual on

Hello all.
I would greatly appreciate getting comments on the Siemens CHR-531
from those who use(d) this HF receiver, especially in comparison to
some other sets such as the R590s, Telefunken E- series,
Racal 6790s... etc. I heard it has an IF of 30KHz !.. Does this
offer any technical advantage ? What are its pros and cons ?
Thx for your time.
Ahmet
