    Hi Ed.,
I'm in the process of insulating the new house. I have a little 12 inch
TV there to catch the local news and a radio for
tunes. I'm using 1 inch polyisocyanurate under the sheet rock. It had a
layer of foil on each side. I stood panels on
the walls to keep the heat in while I work. When I put the panels near
the radio and TV they went dead. I had to
move both of them near windows to get a signal. I plan to use 4 inch metal
tape on the joints. That gives me an extra
R6.5 and two layers of shield.
I worked on a new emi test facility and my boss and I had contractors mount
copper screen under the sheet rock and solder the joints. We always had
problems with low frequency ambient noise until the job was complete. fc

Subject: [Premium-Rx] Faraday Shield.....To Be, or Not to Be?? Need advice,
please!

I am building a radio room for my Premium-Rxs and transceivers from scratch,
and was wondering the pro-and-cons of constructing a totally shielded
(screen room) approach, with bypassed 120, and multiple short grounding
paths to the earth (all bonded, of course!). In other words, a Faraday
shielded room for ultraquiet conditions and maximum RF suppression. I am
turning to the experts on this List, as I'd like the appropriate guidance.
Your input is appreciated! Happy New Year!!

Ed NI6S
