To which I can only add that it's interesting that it's easier to find 
replacement components for a 70-year old radio than those made after 1970 or 
so.

Just try to buy one of those Plessey RF ICs in the US in a quantity less 
than a hundred....

Standard TTL/CMOS semiconductors are GREATLY appreciated on this workbench.
