Guys,
Mike is right, there are a bunch of very nice VME/VXI/etc cards and
small receivers.
I bought a used WJ-8712...it is about the size of a 1/2 rack Cubic.
While it doesn't have a front panel, it's easy to write a soft panel
program for. These aren't too expensive when they show up on Ebay. If
you have a choice, try to get a WJ-8712A.

By no means. There are more than a few manufacturers who put out
receivers-on-a-card, to plug into their proprietary card bay by the
dozen or two, remote controlled, with lotsandlots of neat
features and decent (or better) sensitivity, IM3 numbers and so on.
I just can't afford them. I can't even afford to think about them:
they're pricey. But they do exist, and I suspect that various TLA are
using them by the pallet-load.
