[Premium-Rx] Curators... Not owners...

G'day to the list...

I felt compelled to remind all of the Prem-Rx passionate engineers, and
enthusiasts, that we really do not personally "own" the objects of our
passion, but are merely curators of these fine instruments. The hope that
stokes the fire of passion in others is the sole notion that they will live
in perpetuity; cared for and nurtured by future engineers and enthusiasts.

I responded recently to a post from another list about the possessions left
behind by someone who had passed on. The descriptive nature of what was
done with the "collection" of this individual was very sad indeed. I
suspect that some on this list may know the post. (re: test-equipment)

To those who do not, if you have ever seen a moldy box of what seem like
useless specification sheets, or a curious set of handwritten notes, or a TI
TTL databook, or a box of valves, thrown into dumpsters or trash bins, take
to heart that we, collectively, are nothing more than standard-bearers of a
world that is more or less collapsing in upon itself. Do not misunderstand
that technology is the heart of this paradigm; as Mr. Moore so eloquently
placed as "the" industrial standard. True to form and tested by time.
Repeatably, statistically.

All told, we are nothing more than curators of our passions, that truly need
to be passed on to those taken by the same passion, so that the fine
instruments that we individually "own"...

Can indeed...

Live in perpetuity.

Best regards and safe holiday cheer to all !
