[Premium-Rx] WJ-8888B again

Hello Group,
Thanks for your recent help in regard to replacement backup
battries for the WJ-8888B.
After having installed the battery and a new potentiometer
(squelch), the radio ran very well for two days.
Great enjoyment!
 
Returning from lunch I turned it on again and the following
occured:
- display all on "00.000.00" with all the right start-up
buttons lit.
- after going from the "remote" to the "local" button, the
display 
  shows "30.000.00"
- the tuning wheel does not change the shown frequency,-
neither 
  forward or backward.
- pushing the "if bandwitdth", "direction mode" and "gain
mode" 
  knobs they seem to be OK.
- Sound comes from the loudspeaker. Switching the antennas
  can be heard. 
  Using my signal generator on 30.000.00 Hz I can hear a
tone,- fine.
 
Has anyone had a similar experience or knows how I should
proceed from here?
Your enlightment is apreciated. 
Possibly I should skip lunch in future...
