I saw this when you first posted this news about the receiver, but I think
you very well might have the correct meter face, 3 possibly 4 faces were
used , the most frequently seen is the brownish / ruby , the lighter yellow
and indeed a VERY VERY few white ones were produced, the white were by
Bartlett, and the others mostly by Honeywell.. but I dont think your face is
faded.. the ruby ones were pretty dark..

With this said, this receiver is not really one that is considered premium,
and you would find a ton more support over on the CCA reflector.. Charlie
Talbot and Yievs both offer full tech support for the 51s-1.. Charlie has
tuned several hundred, Steve a few less.. good luck mac/mc

To all you Collins 51S-1 owners

Just acquired a 51S-1 and it does work. I want to restore it. ARC needs
work. Meter reads negative when the Rf gain is turned down. Little or no
change in the meter reading when tuning across the dial.
Is there a web page like the R390/A for the 51S-1?
What caps need to be replaced?
Any resistors that are known to change value?
What are the important mods to be installed?
Where can I purchase a white meter scale?
Is there a web location for cleaning, lubing, and adjustment of the tuning
mechanism?

Thanks
Al
