The Racal 6790/GM  receiver used a 40.455 MHz crystal filter on the A-3 
board
(second mixer).  Usual bandwidths are 18 KHz or 25 KHz.

I have bought used, untested, A-3 cards on eBay for around $25.

Gary Wingerd in Maryland gwingerd at netzero.com  may have the filters in 
stock.
