[Premium-Rx] Headphones

I agree with Bob, WA2UEH. While I have tried several different versions of Sennheiser headsets, some Koss hi-fi headphones, and two models from Heil, the Bose noise cancelling headset is the best all around headset I have tried for SWL and ham use.

By the way, they are great for field day. They really reduce the acoustic noise from adjacent operators.

I have noticed one peculiarity with them, though. While wearing them on aircraft while getting in line to take off I can sometimes hear the ground PPI radar as it scans by the aircraft. Only the earphone facing the radar picks up the pulses. I guess the dense material between the earpieces shields the one on the opposite side. HI HI.

I have been using the Bose "Quiet Comfort" headphones for BCB, SW and
high-quality stereo listening. Besides sounding great and being lightweight
and comfortable, they have active noise cancellation which cancels out the
lower-frequency ambient noise. The phones themselves do a creditable job of
blocking the higher frequencies.

They don't block noise as well as my Clarks, but they are a lot more
comfortable and sound much better. Not cheap but I don't regret the money I
spent for them.

( I also work part-time as a projectionist in a local movie house. Wearing
them while in the projection room, with two projectors running, makes it a
lot more pleasant.)
