Bill, I've used my Sunair GSE924 xmtr with my RA6790 successfully. The
Sunair is a synthesized solid state rig that tunes from 1.8-30 mHz, and
puts out 100w SSB and CW. It also puts out 40w AM. It has a muting output
that works well with the mute circuitry in the 6790 preamp. The xmtr has
a switch that lets you select 100w or 100mw output, so it can be used
standalone or with a high power amp.
The only hassle is the tuning, which is switch selected, like the R1051.
If you come across a CQ, you have to switch to that freq, but that's where
having an accurate RCVR readout comes in handy! :-)
I found the Sunair xmtr on eBay, and ordered a manual from Sunair.
