[Premium-Rx] Hot Rod Knob for Premium Receivers

I should have given the reason for the caveat on the IC-775DSP knob
drilling. The stock ICOM encoder evidently has a flat on one side of the
shaft, as there is a small rectangle of steel pressed into a slot at the
edge of the knob's hole. The steel piece protrudes about 1/3 of the shaft
hole's radius into the hole. It is this chunk of harder material that forces
the drill bit to go off-center. I tried to remove the steel piece, but it
wouldn't budge. Based on previous experience I knew a machinist would be
needed to use a boring bar & bit. Anyone upgrading to this very nice ICOM
knob needs to be prepared for some customized fitting, in most cases.

I use a series of drills to increase the size of a centered hole. Just take
a little at a time. BTW I have a bag of Cubic 3150 Knobs new. I think I can
sell them a bit cheaper. Yup 1/4 inch out of the box. fc
