All 78 series regulators run about 50 millivolts of high frequency ripple.
The old 723 was one of the best with 1 or 2 millivolts. Good thing these
modules have a lot of room inside to make them better.  fc

This may or may not help you,
but the 78L series regulators are noisier than the 78 series.
