I've used eBay's escrow payment service and it is a godsend.  It smoked out 
a fraudulent seller of a WJ-8617B almost immediately.  He absolutely 
refused to accept payment through the escrow.  He insisted that we could 
work out a deal for a price higher than the final price of the 
auction.  His logic was that he could cancel the completed auction and I'd 
end up with nothing.  Some deal!  In the end I reported him to eBay and 
nothing happened despite his self-incriminating e-mails.  Sellers rule the 
roost at eBay.

I turn my b***s*** detectors to maximum whenever I seek a transaction on eBay.
