Hi Jerry: get yourself some QUALITY (for gold) contact lubricant (I use
Cramolin B100L) and swipe EVERY board edge, and multi-pin connector (boards
first, then connectors) until it clears up. Keep track of which ones you've
done, so you know where to re-start in case it warms up enough to stop
doing it. (Meaning you'll have to let it cool off again.) Also be certain
that when you remove a multi-pin flat connector, you know which way to plug
it back in after swiping the pins with contact lube. If "Pin 1" isn't
obvious, and if the connector isn't 'keyed' to insure proper orientation,
make your own small dot using a Sharpie marker at one end of the connector
and another SMALL dot on the pc board. Most connectors-when their cable has
been laced & dressed for several years-will only go one way anyway.

Also, re-seat any ICs in sockets (if it has any-I haven't been inside a
'2050.) Do not remove them, just press them down-most of the time you'll
hear a 'pop' indicating any oxide-buildup between IC and socket has been
'exercised' out.

If none of this helps, one final thing you can do is simply measure the
main DC supply voltages while it is misbehaving-since a power supply
capacitor could (but not likely) be doing this. Just want you to cover the
bases that you can cover before the big bucks of sending it out.

This procedure will not harm anything, and is your best bet-and should be
within your range of expertise. Just make certain you use a quality brand
of gold contact lubricant, and not some abrasive blue TV tuner mess
(fortunately those types of mechanically tuned, contact-filled, tuners are
pretty much gone-and hopefully so is that abrasive blue stuff!)
