Hello to the List,
Not strictly Permium but... my WJ8888 has just started developing a fault.
Before I rip the thing down (its a major job on one of these), perhaps someone
might be able to point me in the right direction first.
The fault is this...
The radio will tune slowly, up or down, perfectly.
However, as you start to gradually increase the speed of tuning, a point is
reached where it suddenly makes huge jumps of several MHz. The tuning is
supposed to be progressive (increases tuning rate the faster you turn the knob)
- but this has become far too excessive.
It doesn't happen everytime at the same speed, or anything else. It has a random
nature.
Slow tuning is always perfect and precise.
Would it be something like a dirty encoder? An adjustment? I can't see anything
obvious in the circuits.
Any help to keep this museum piece going would be highly appreciated.
Richard
