Fellow Members:
Chris Crosby, located on Buggs Island, Virginia, joined our List on October 9, of this year. Recently, while checking the back files of my computer, I noted I missed his introduction-
Chris is a wireless site engineer (towers & antennas) as well as 2-way radio service & internet sales. He became interested in SWL radio at the age of 10 (early 70s) with an Army BC-312-D. He moved up to a FRG-7 & Mizuho SX-59 Preselector from Gilfer Short-wave at age 15. This was purchased by saving his summer job money. Most memorable station from his younger SWL days was Radio Free Grenada with all the "cool" local advertising.
Finally, after graduating from college he earned his General license (K4RAF). He now operates a Racal 6790. His present QTH is on 44 acres so the beverage antenna is the sky hook of choice. He states, "I like VLF/MW/Tropical (under 9MHz) short-wave these days. I am getting very interested in BCB DXing since acquiring the Racal. I have 113 countries confirmed, 167 heard in my 30 years but don't chase QSL's like I used to".
In the late afternoons you can find Chris listening to 4845KHz Radio Mauritania on a beverage, and 172KHz Medi-1 Morocco at night. Winter?, while other worry about the cold, Chris loves it..... he says, 'it's the best DX time of the year'.
