Right you are Mark -- and that's a fourth point I left out of my post. Open
the door a crack to ebay remarks and things go quickly out of control. It's
a "loaded subject". Starts with "there's a such and such on epay now", then
migrates to critiques of the auction copy and item ("isn't that the
failure-prone version"), then remarks about sellers, packing, high shipping
charges, etc. Some say try it -- but it may actually get so bad that we
would need a moderated list set up on yahoo to replace this one. I also
agree that personal for sales and WTB's are OK.
If you truly want to help someone find a receiver on the auction sites, tell
one or two privately, or set up another, expendable list for that purpose --
although, as I explained, and Mark mentions as well, that may well be
self-defeating.
Barry

I have seen other lists that I belong to dragged down by ebay notification
postings by members that thought they were doing the group a service but in
fact were wasting bandwidth and potentially driving up the price of the
auction by bringing in new bidders. It is easy enough to do a filtered
search of premium related items on ebay yourself without needing outside
help and I think most of us view the other lists often enough to catch for
sale postings.
