Hi Jay,
I would be very interested in such a modification, too. That lack of a
tuning step between 10 Hz and 1 kHz has always bugged me. A better mod
would be adding the 100-Hz steps without losing the 10 Hz tuning. Even
toggling between the two would be fine.
The 10-Hz step really comes in handy when trying to tune as close as
possible to an AM station before switching to one of the sidebands.
What I do is first tune the station using CW with the wide filter.
That gives you enough low-frequency audio response to make it easy to
hear a >10-Hz mismatch between the receiver BFO and the station
carrier.
