Hi Bob... I own R-7 production prototype number XXX 3
<http://www.qsl.net/n4xy/Images/Electronics/Ham_Radio/Receivers/Drake/rcvr_Drake_R-7_01.jpg>
and <http://www.qsl.net/n4xy/receivers-3.html> purchased from Mike Elliot,
W8KRR, who-along with Jim Jaeger-were the 1st two engineers on the TR-7
project at Drake. This receiver was Mike's own. To the best of my
knowledge, the receivers in the TR-7 and R-7 are essentially the same. The
R-7 adds some antenna switching functionality, and a preamp. The primary
difference between the x-7 series and the x-7A series is an added lightning
protection discharge 'tube'. More information is available in John
Loughmiller's book about Drake: "A Family Affair". Note that is MY R4-B
dial on the back cover.
