[Premium-Rx] Off Topic - diversity reception

After running an old pair of R4B's in stereo with polarity diversity for a 
while now, I'm surprised it how useful the result can be at times, so I've 
decided its worth continuing the fun - what I can't seem to find is any decent 
imformation on a simple circuit for selecting the stronger signal - if anyone can 
point in the right direction I'd appreciate it.  I have found one note that 
says on AM the signals can simply be tied together at the detector, with the 
stronger signal driving the AGC and less stronger signal down - could it be that 
simple on AM?  Thanks for any steers, Scott
