I have one of these rigs, as well as the 2280 its daddy.  They are an ok
receiver; remember, at an auction, it only takes two people with the desire
to jack the item into the stratosphere.

I've been wondering about that for a while also.  I tried to get together as
many specs and reviews of this receiver as I could so I could compare with
others that I have collected.  As far as I can see there is nothing really
special about this receiver.  The specs indicate a good receiver, but not
outstanding when compared to Harris, Racal etc.  In fact some of the specs
are mediocre in this comparison.  Somehow this receiver has gotten this
reputation but since the specs are hard to come by nobody has really
compared them.  They always seem to go for around $4000.  There have been
several on E-bay and Ford Surplus had one for a long time.  I can post what
I have on the specs if there is an interest.
