I went over to super-caps a while ago.
They are fine as long as you don't leave the set off for too long.
I haven't actually timed how long they last - but at least 3 to 4 days (which is
about how long I store settings for anyway). Like yourself, I am fed-up with
repairing part-dissolved 1792 processor boards (same applies to the 6790 etc
al).
