Many thanks to all those who replied with assistance. Each point of view
added more clues to the puzzle. As for Terminal software, my first
impression is that HyperTerminal is not too bad for starters. Mk7Term
did not work under Win2k.

The computer interface cable now works correctly, and, from information
kindly supplied by Albert P Belle Isle, should also work with the M-8000
TU.
