[Premium-Rx] RX-340 Comments?

If anyone cares to comment on the RX-340, either directly or on the
reflector, as to the merit of the RX-340 I'd appreciate it.

Cleaning house and considering one, curious how it compares to an HF1000A,
particularly in SSB audio recovery, and in its ability to cleanly mute and
recover instantaneously in cw (I've been plagued with desense on the HF1000A, even
after serious grounding and fiddling, especially above 10 mHz, but generally
am fond of the damn thing anyway.)

Also a bit disturbed by a comment in Rad Comm that says that there are only
42 increments per revolution of the optical encoder, thereby rendering tuning
rate a little annoying at times - I have this problem with the Lowe HF-150 and
know it can make one a bit crazy, er, crazier.)

Also a little scared it will be replaced with a better TenTec sumpthin' else
as soon as I make decision. Anyone else think that design is getting a little
long in the tooth, or know how long the basic RX-331 machines have been in
service?

Thanks for any insight, opinions or wisecracks, all suitably rewarded with
appropriate beverages (the liquid, not the antenna) if you show up to collect.

Thanks, Scott
