Fellow Members:
Our newest member is Paul Jay Spivack, located in Kent (near Seattle), Washington.
Jay, or "PJ", worked many years ago for ITT on "Project Dewdrop" in Greenland. He then moved to the Chief Engineer position of 12 AFN (Arm Forces Network) broadcast stations in France. AFN at the time was a broadcast band network serving Europe for entertaining US personnel. It is still active today, and according to Jay, "AFN . . . started when Harry Flora, in the Army Signal Corp, fired up a BC-610 on the broadcast band during the Normandy invasion."
During his spare time while working at AFN, he earned his commercial pilot ratings and soon found his way on a path to a seat in a DC-10. Now, 34 years later, he has retired and started to enjoy his hobbies- flying his Cessna 185 amphibian, fly fishing, and working his ham station.
He has collected receivers over the years, and presently owns a Collins-Rockwell 2050 and a Racal 6790. When transmitting, he can be heard using the call, W7PJS.
Those interested in saying hello to our newest member can reach him at: PJPilot at AOL.Com.
Welcome to our List Captain-
Greg
