Hi Al
I believe this is the same set as the Muirhead M100M, also known as the Sait
MR1410.
If it is the set I'm thinking of it probably wouldn't qualify as "premium"
but is certainly a very nicely made marine receiver of the late 70s.
Could you confirm on that please?
If you're not sure I can send you a scan showing a picture of the Muirhead.
I've got a manual for the Muirhead, and amazingly have just found it amongst
the chaos:-), so if it is the same I'm happy to provide a copy.
It might not be instant though as there's quite a lot of it and I've got a
backlog of copying at the moment.
My Muirhead came to me very badly badly tweaked, as deaf as a post above 10
or 11MHz and not much better below.
I would say that it's probably almost impossible to work on this set without
a manual or a good knowledge of it to start with.
A lack of both obviously wasn't a deterrent to one of its previous owners:-(
I was very lucky to be offered a copy of the manual some six months after
placing a request online, they seem to be very hard to find these days, but, a
year on and other projects arrived since, it's still waiting for a lot of rainy
days before I take a proper look at it.
I did speak to Muirhead whilst looking for info but all they could provide
was from an ex employee who said he remembered it as a set that drifted quite a
lot.
Not too encouraging that, although it does have a "lock" facility similar to
the Eddystone 1837 that might help.
Unfortunately I can't offer any help with spare displays and the manual
doesn't seem to be too helpful on identifying the actual displays either.
Each display digit is mounted on the end of a decade counter circuit board.
Is it just the displays themselves that you need or the complete assemblies?
The manual refers to a "lamp test" button for the displays so not sure if
these are the old types that use filament bulbs to illuminate segments or even
complete individual numerals, in which case repair might not be too diificult if
it's just the bulbs faulty.
Unfortunately my RX is very well buried in a pile so I can't even offer to
take a look at that right now to confirm what's fitted.
regards
Nigel
