[Premium-Rx] no audio and 3030 keypads

Hi Herschell & group,

Aside from something just failing, one of the radio's favorite tricks to
pull on me (actually, I set it and forget) is to inadvertently set the
"level" or "threshold" way high...essentially, this is the same as setting a
squelch way too high...no signals make it through.  If your lucky, something
got bumped.  Just press the level pushbutton and rotate the tuning knob ccw
to read "-127".  Of course if it already does read -127, it's not the level
control at all.

If it's not the level control, all of the modules are fully swappable
between sides for troubleshooting.  Audio itself is not monitored for
faults, so don't expect any lamps.  The audio board is directly mounted to
the rear of the front panel display board...the connectors are NOT locking,
so try reseating each of the sh*t brindle brown push-on connectors...
speaker out is on these guys.  Pull the front panel interface module for
some accessibility.

I assume this is a R3030A, which has the speaker outputs on screw lugs at
the rear panel?


Also, just realizing I replied to the wrong email from you, but if those
keypads are the real thing, put me down for either 2 or 4 pending cost.

If you haven't already got it, download the manual at
http://www.amrad.org/projects/lf/rx/r3030.pdf  .  Schematics are a bit
small, I hear, but it should help you through.

The Grayhill web site still shows this style that is used with the 3030 ..
some others of you might check it out as well and see what I might [ very
likely ] be overlooking and lets discuss and decide how to go forward..
and then we say goodbye to the " bubbly "  keypads..  one stroke actions
will come back to us 3030 drivers..  mac/mc
