Not quite Premium but I hope you find this a little interesting.
Last week both my XYL ( Wife ) and I were at a semi-local 'car boot' sale
near were we live here in the North East of England.
As I passed one of the traders selling his wears I spotted what looked like
an old large radio.
On closer inspection this radio turned out to be an old Sony radio from the
very early '70s'.
I ask the price of the radio and was told he was asking the princely sum of
five pounds for it ( about, eight US Dollars ).
Quickly paying the man to mumblings of, "not more bloody rubbish" coming
from my XYL's mouth I took the radio back to the car and sat for a while
drooling over my latest acquisition.
On inspection I found that the, on-off switch was broken off and the dual
concentric BFO and RF gain control knob/shaft had been broken off.
The good news is that when I got the radio home and plugged in ( it still
had the original mains lead and car adaptor lead in the case ) I found that
it worked and seemed to be pretty well calibrated on all bands ( eleven
short wave bands plus MW, LW and FM ).
Now to my problem, I would like to repair the broken items and give the
radio the 'once over', so I am looking for any circuit information I can
find on this radio, circuit diagrams, operators manual ect. If anyone on the
list can help me with any information on this radio I would be eternally
grateful, I will of course reimburse any out of pocket expenses incurred
with pleasure.
Sorry if I have took up a little bandwidth with what is a little of topic
but I do hope you enjoyed reading my little tale of the '160'........cheers
to all. 73 & 88 to the YL's........Ken, G4KIR.
