Hi Greg and All
I have to accept mine wasn't a very realistic suggestion:-)...
but having got shot of the TV I can't imagine now how I would ever find time
to watch it!!
Having said that, I might have a more practical suggestion.
A company called SEM in the UK, not sure if they're still trading, used to
make a noise cancelling device that went into the antenna lead.
It used a short local antenna as a noise pickup with the main antenna sited
further away and was fitted with phasing and gain controls which were
adjusted to cancel out whatever was picked up on the short antenna.
I've not used one myself but was impressed by a demonstration at a radio
rally some years ago. In this demo a variety of interfering signals were very
effectively reduced, including that from an arcing electric drill.
I can remember another company making one too and think MFJ might have
something similar.
It could be worth a try although, being an amplified device, I suspect it
might be prone to overloading on strong signals.
regards
Nigel
