Hi John,
Thanks for the information. I wonder why the spec for the 6790 is so loose.
My numbers were directly read off the screen without taking any correction
for bandwidth. I will assume you have the procedure and set up your spectrum
analyzer for the same bandwidths.                          fc

Here are the results that I obtained by doing this measurement on an RA6793A
receiver:
50 Hz = -55 dBc
100 Hz = -65 dBc
200 Hz = -40 dBc (there was a spike in the spectrum at +/- 200 Hz, so this
isn't strictly phase noise)
1 KHz = -70 dBc

Test setup:
Signal generator HP 8640B
Receiver Racal RA6793A with LF extension
Spectrum analyzer: HP 3580A audio
